The Association, in partnership with the Tri County Community Support Services offer the the Heather Penny Award annually in honour of Heather Penny who was an active Board member of the Association, and a Behaviour Therapist with Tri-County until her untimely death in December of 1999. Her commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children remains inspiring, and her dedication to the youth of the community was exemplary. Her work and attributes inspired this Award.
The Heather Penny Award is presented to Support Staff, such as Educational Assistants or a Child and Youth Workers, working directly with students, who make or have made an outstanding contribution to student life. Nominating submissions will demonstrate that a candidate treats students with care, dignity and respect, actively encourages and enhances student participation, and is an exceptional role model.
